Australia Warns of Tainted Batches of Heparin

Authorities in Australia have warned that four batches of AstraZeneca’s (AZ) blood-thinning drug heparin are contaminated. AZ is the latest in a series of companies, including Baxter Healthcare (Deerfield, IL), that has identified contamination in its heparin products, and all of the companies source their heparin active pharma ingredients (APIs) from China.
