AkzoNobel Returns to Profit in First Quarter; Receives Expressions of Interest in National Starch

AkzoNobel reported significantly improved results in the first quarter of 2010 with Ebitda growth of 38% to €399 million ($538.7 million) on 6% higher sales at €3.25 billion. Ebitda margin rose from 9.4% in the first quarter of 2009 to 12.3% in the first quarter of this year. Net income reached €81 million, compared with a €7 million loss in the first quarter of 2009.
