African countries pledge to increase efforts for sound management of chemicals

Representatives of 28 African countries, under the auspices of Representatives of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), have developed a road map that aims to drive the African continent toward meeting a 2020 goal of sound management of chemicals across their life cycles, UNEP announced. Representatives drew on the experiences of Zambia, Burkina Faso, and Uganda to draft a plan to be turned by representatives' countries into appropriate implementing legislation, UNEP says.
