Senate Takes Up Nanotech R&D Bill

Senators John Kerry (D., MA) and Olympia Snowe (D., ME) have introduced legislation that would address concerns associated with the federal government’s National Nanotechnology Initiative, which critics say has done little to develop a plan for examining environmental, health, and safety (EH&S) issues associated with nanotechnology. The bill, referred to as the National Nanotechnology Initiative Amendments Act, passed the House last month by a vote of 407 to 6.
