Researchers Develop Two-Step Process to Produce Chiral Tertiary Alcohols

Research chemists from the University of Bristol (Bristol, U.K.) and other research institutes, led by Jake L. Stymiest, say they have developed a two-step process for converting secondary alcohols into chiral tertiary alcohols. Chiral tertiary alcohols have a broad range of uses including chemical intermediates for the pharmaceutical industry. The research was featured in the November 21 edition of Nature magazine.
