Research Says Cooking Oil Makes Bioplastic Production Cheaper

Researchers at the University of Wolverhampton (West Midlands, U.K.) and the Society for General Microbiology (Reading, U.K.) say waste cooking-oil can be used as the starting material to make bioplastics that are naturally synthesized by microbes. The study shows that using the cooking oil would reduce environmental contamination, cut the cost of plastic production, and produce high-quality plastics suitable for medical implants.
