EnviroTech :: R&D Novozymes and Lignol Sign R&D Deal to Make Biofuel from Wood7:41 AM MDT | June 15, 2010 | Alex Scott Enzymes firm Novozymes (Copenhagen) and Lignol Energy (Burnaby, BC, Canada) say they have signed an R&D agreement to develop a commercially viable process for manufacturing biofuel from wood. Financial terms were not disclosed. Lignol brings to the collaboration a pre-treatment technology for converting woody biomass into complex sugars. Novozymes has a range of enzymes for converting cellulose in biomass into sugars that may then be fermented into alcohol.
