Neste Inaugurates Biofuels Demonstration Plant

Nester Oil and Stora Enso, a forestry products company, have started up a biomass-to-liquids demonstration plant at Varkaus, Finland. The two firms are 50/50 joint partners in NSE Biofuels Oy, the company running the project. The jv has been set up first to develop the technology-which features a Fischer-Tropsch process-and then to manufacture the biofuel at commercial scale.   The demonstration facility includes a 12MW gasifier.
