Monsanto acquires soil analysis firm

Monsanto has added to its growing precision agriculture footprint by acquiring the soil analysis business of Solum (Ames, IA) for an undisclosed sum. The deal includes the Solum brand, soil testing intellectual property, a soil test lab at Ames, and Solum’s No-Wait Nitrate platform. The Ames lab will continue to provide a mail-in sample service to help customers measure and manage their soil fertility.  Agriculture analytics firm The Climate Corporation, which Monsanto acquired November 2013 for $930-million, will operate the No-Wait Nitrate platform...
