Idemitsu Kosan to Commercialize New PAO Technology in a Plant in Japan

Idemitsu Kosan (Tokyo) will decide in the second half of next year on an investment in a new polyalpha olefins (PAO) plant, which will be based on a newly developed technology using metallocene catalysts, CW has learned. The plant is likely to be located at Chiba, Japan, where Idemitsu makes alpha olefins. The company is East Asia's only producer of alpha olefins. It operates a 600,000-m.t./year plant at Chiba.
