EU approves state aid to French R&D consortium to develop third-generation biorefineries

The European Commission has approved aid granted by the French government to Picardie Innovation en Végétal Enseignement Rechercher et Techologie (Pivert; Compiègne, France) and Institut d’Excellence en Énergies Décarbonées (Ieed; Compiègne, France) to carry out their Genesys R&D program because it complies with EU rules on state aid. The aim of the project is to develop third-generation of biorefineries using biomass to produce, among other things, clean energy. The aid addresses a genuine market failure...
