EU approves Horizon 2020, a $108-billion research and innovation program

The European Parliament has approved the regulation to set up Horizon 2020, the European Union's research and innovation program for 2014–2020, together with the rules for participation and future legislation governing the European Institute of Innovation and Technology. European member states must now give final approval before the first calls for proposals under the program, which are currently set for 11 December.
