'Cling Film' System Lights the Way to Cheaper Solar Cells

A group of U.K. researchers say they have developed a simple and inexpensive approach for depositing ‘cling film’-like flexible layers of polymers for the low cost manufacture of solar cells. The research has been published recently in an online edition of the Journal of Advanced Materials. The study shows that when complex mixtures of molecules in solution are spread onto a surface, in a way similar to varnishing a table-top, the different molecules separate to the top and bottom of the layer in a way that maximizes the efficiency of the resulting...
