Carbon Nanotubes; Study Indicates they Can Damage Biological Barriers in People

A study by U.S. researchers has found indications that synthetic carbon nanoparticles (CNPs) at relatively low environmental exposure rates could have an adverse impact on living cells in people. In the study, undertaken by researchers from the schools of science and medicine at Indiana University-Purdue University (Indianapolis, IA; IUPUI), it was found that CNPs could damage biological barriers in the body and cause urine to leak back into the bloodstream.   The research is published in the September 2011 issue of the journal Nanotoxicology.  ...
