Bayer’s €2.8-billion ($3.7 billion) R&D budget this year is the biggest R&D budget in Germany’s chemical and pharmaceutical sector and accounts for about 5% of all R&D spending by German industry as a whole, Wenning told journalists at the company’s “Perspective on Innovation 2008” meeting, held recently in Leverkusen.
