BASF Plans to Ramp Up R&D Spending

BASF plans to “ramp up” spending to develop diagnostic and prognostic test products designed by its Metanomics Health (Berlin) human health biotechnology business, said Peter Oakley, BASF board member/agricultural products and fine chemicals, at a briefing in Berlin last month. Metanomics Health is developing novel diagnostic tests including products to predict the onset of certain diseases such as diabetes, potentially enabling physicians to prevent their onset.
