EnviroTech :: R&D Ajinomoto, Toray Industries Sign Biobased Nylon Development Deal2:53 PM MST | February 13, 2012 | Rebecca Coons Ajinomoto and Toray Industries say they have entered into an agreement to begin joint research for manufacturing the nylon raw material 1,5-pentanediamine (1,5-PD) from the amino acid lysine produced by Ajinomoto via fermentation technology. The agreement includes joint commercialization of a biobased nylon made from lysine, as well as efforts to use Toray’s membrane-integrated bioprocessing technology in the production of lysine.
