Butamax Wins USPTO Review of Gevo Patent; Gevo Calls Butamax Statements Inflammatory

Butamax Advanced Biofuels (Wilmington, DE) says the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has issued an order granting Butamax’s request for reexamination of the Gevo (Englewood, CO)  “GIFT” Patent No. 8,101,808, part of ongoing litigation between the two companies over technology used to retrofit ethanol plants to production of biobased isobutanol, a four-carbon platform chemical and gasoline blendstock.
