The market for nanomaterials, or particles that are a thousand millionths of a meter­, has risen from a few hundred million dollars several years ago to billions of dollars, analysts say. However, fundamental questions about the environmental and human health impacts of nanomaterials remain, and regulatory scrutiny from EPA and others could significantly dampen market enthusiasm, analysts say.
