Lonza Secures Stem Cell Drug Supply Deal, Will Build Plant at Walkersville, MD

Contract fine chemicals firm Lonza (Basel, Switzerland) says it has secured a deal with biotech firm Osiris Therapeutics (Columbia, MD) to manufacture what could be the world’s first stem cell drug. Lonza will build a new manufacturing facility at its Walkersville, MD site to manufacture the drug, the company says. Lonza has stated that the new manufacturing facility will cost millions of dollars to set up.
