Avecia Unveils Biologics Process

Avecia Biologics (Billingham, U.K.) says it has introduced a protein expression system for the manufacture of biopharmaceuticals. The system, dubbed Paveway, enables microbial production at a concentration of more than 10g/liter for a range of therapeutically useful proteins. Paveway “will help to reduce the time to market and cost, while increasing flexibility,” the company says. Avecia debuted the system at BIO International Convention, held last week at Boston.
