AGC Chemicals Americas launches PFOA-free repellent for textiles and nonwovens

AGC Chemicals Americas (Exton, PA), a wholly owned subsidiary of Asahi Glass, has launched a perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA)-free chemical that provides a water- and oil-repellent finish to technical textiles, and nonwovens, the company announced. The product, to be branded under the AsahiGuard name, is based on a short-chain C6  fluorinated-polymer technology that supports an industry transition to alternative chemistries with reduced environmental impact, the company says.
