Vertellus Settles WV Superfund Case

Vertellus Specialties (Indianapolis, IN) settled alleged state and federal violations related to a former West Virginia manufacturing site. The settlement with EPA and the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection (WVDEP) involves the reimbursement of past government costs and remediation obligations at the site, Big John's Salvage (BJS), in Fairmount, WV. A predecessor to Vertellus, Reilly Tar & Chemical, owned a portion of the BJS site and operated a coal tar processing plant there, from 1933 to 1973.  “We are pleased to reach a...
