U.S. Health Officials Retract Study Linking Certain Pesticides to Parkinson's Disease

A newsletter published by the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH; Bethesda, MD), has retracted a study that linked exposure to certain herbicides to an increased risk of Parkinson's disease. The study was published in 2005 by the newsletter Environmental Health Perspectives, which is released by a NIH affiliate. The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), which oversees NIH, says its Office of Research Integrity (ORI) determined that University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey researcher Mona Thiruchelvam falsified and fabricated cell count...
