U.S. Group Sues FDA Over Bisphenol A

The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC; Washington) has filed a lawsuit to compel the U.S. FDA to act on NRDC’s October 2008 petition seeking to compel FDA to restrict bisphenol a (BPA). The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, says FDA has failed to comply with its own rules that required a response to the petition within 180 days. FDA in January altered its scientific position on  BPA, saying the substance poses “some concern” but said more research is needed before restrictions can be established. ACC...
