Settlement Requires FDA Take Action on BPA in Food Packaging by March 311:50 PM MST | December 19, 2011 | Kara Sissell The U.S. FDA says it will decide by April of next year whether it will restrict bisphenol A (BPA) in food packaging. The decision is part of a settlement with the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC; Washington), an advocacy group, which petitioned FDA in 2008 seeking restrictions on BPA’s use in food packaging materials. The petition sought a ban on BPA in food packaging, food containers and any material likely to come in contact with food.
