Senate Panel Plans TSCA Vote for Wednesday

The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee plans to vote Wednesday on a bill that would revise the 1976 Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), according to public health advocacy groups. The Senate vote would be the first so far on revisions to TSCA. The bill, sponsored by Senator Frank Lautenberg (D., NJ), would make changes to EPA’s ability to obtain safety data for new and existing chemicals, update exemptions allowed under confidential business information protections, and require companies to develop and submit certain health and safety data.
