Maine Advances BPA Restrictions

A Maine legislative committee has voted unanimously to restrict bisphenol A (BPA) in food and beverage containers beginning in 2012. The move was first endorsed last December by Maine's Board of Environmental Protection, but required legislative approval, now heads to the full legislature. Maine's incoming governor Paul LePage (R.) has said he opposes the restriction but did not move to counter the committee's recent action, local reports say.
