Lautenberg Superfund Bill Would Aid EPA Budget Woes

Senator Frank Lautenberg (D., NJ) has introduced a bill to reinstate taxes charged to oil and chemical companies to help fund the federal Superfund toxic waste cleanup program. Lautenberg, chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee’s subcommittee on Superfund, says the measure would contribute $2 billion annually to the federal cleanup program.
