European Parliament proposes ban on fluorinated gases

The European Parliament says its environment committee has proposed a ban on fluorinated gases in refrigerators and air conditioners. The plan proposes to phase out completely the use of fluorinated gases in the European Union between 2015 and 2020 "in several sectors where energy-efficient and cost-effective alternatives are available," the parliament says.
