EPA proposes risk assessment plans for five chemicals

EPA has released for public comment draft risk assessments for five chemicals used in household products, a move that represents a significant step in defining EPA’s approach to chemical management using its existing authority under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). The proposal shows EPA is moving forward and has identified a methodological approach based on certain data inputs, and chemical industry representatives say they will be looking at the proposal to assess how the data and methodology compare with established risk assessment processes.
