EPA Proposes Sweeping New Air Toxics Rules3:42 PM MDT | April 30, 2010 | Kara Sissell EPA is proposing four air toxics rules that would impact industrial facilities nationwide, attorneys say. The rules include a maximum achievable control technology (MACT) standard for industrial boilers and process heaters; similar regulations for smaller, “area” sources of air toxics; a rule for incinerators burning solid waste; and a rule for the definition of that solid waste using Resource Conservation and Recovery Act-related requirements of the Clean Air Act.
