EnviroTech :: Environment EPA Finalizes IRIS Assessment for Tetrachloroethylene (Update)8:06 AM MST | February 13, 2012 | Kara Sissell EPA has issued its final health assessment for the dry cleaning solvent and degreaser tetrachloroethylene (perc) under the agency’s Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS), classifying it as a “likely human carcinogen.” The health assessment, which sets a reference dose (RfD) .006 milligrams/kilogram (mg/kg) of body weight, will be used by officials to establish cleanup levels at hazardous waste sites; to revise EPA’s Maximum Contaminant Level for perc as part of the carcinogenic volatile organic compounds group in drinking water...
