Bush Withdraws Two EPA Nominations

The White House has withdrawn two key EPA appointments due to criticism from Democrats in Congress who had expressed concern that the nominees would be too industry friendly, sources say. The Bush administration had nominated William Wehrum to head EPA’s Office of Air and Radiation, and Alex Beehler to be EPA inspector general. The nominations were considered unlikely to pass the Senate confirmation process due to the Democratic majority, sources say.
