Aniline leak in China cuts off city's water supply1:36 PM MST | January 7, 2013 | Deepti Ramesh China’s Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP; Beijing) says that about 9 m.t. of aniline leaked from a plant owned by Tianji Coal Chemical Industry Group (Lucheng, Shanxi Province, China) and contaminated the Zhuozhang River. Additionally, another 30 m.t. of spilled aniline have been contained in a disused reservoir, MEP says. An initial investigation revealed that a loose drainage valve in the plant caused the leak, which was discovered on 31 December 2012. A detailed investigation into the incident is under way.
