WMO report: Greenhouse gases reach record atmospheric level in 2012

The volume of greenhouse gases (GHG) in the atmosphere reached a new record high in 2012, according to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO; Geneva, Switzerland) in its annual Greenhouse Gas Bulletin. WMO says that the there was a 32% increase in radiative forcing—the warming effect on the climate—between 1990 and 2012, because of emissions of heat-trapping gases such as carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and nitrous oxide (N2O).
