Norway Initiates Carbon Capture Testing Program

The Norwegian government has decided to press ahead with a major testing program for carbon capture and storage (CCS). The program will feature significant but undisclosed state funding. The R&D will be undertaken at a large-scale test facility to be built at Mongstad, on the west coast of Norway. CCS offers the potential for carbon dioxide to be contained rather than released to the atmosphere where it may contribute to global warming.
