National Academy of Sciences Report Calls For Carbon Price

A newly released report by the National Academy of Sciences (Washington, DC) calls for the establishment of a carbon price and an emissions "budget" for 2012 through 2050. The report was commissioned by Congress more than two years ago and includes parts on the science of, mitigation of and adaptation to climate change. The "budget" called for in the report totals about 170 billion to 200 billion tons of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from 2012 to 2050, though this is a "representative figure," the report says.
