Japan Proposes Post-Kyoto Climate Change Strategy

Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe has proposed an international climate change initiative, dubbed Cool Earth 50, aimed at reducing worldwide greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by half by 2050. Japan will promote the initiative at the next G-8 summit, to be held in Germany this month, and at the G-8 summit in Japan next year.
