EnviroTech :: Climate Change Global Carbon Markets Heat Up...1:55 PM MDT | August 27, 2007 | Chemical Week Editorial Staff The global market for greenhouse gas emission permits and credits grew 41%, to €15.8 billion ($21.2 billion) in the first six months of 2007, compared with the year-ago period, says a study by carbon trading information firm Point Carbon (Oslo). About 1.2 billion m.t. of carbon dioxide (CO2) equivalent were traded in the first half, an increase of 45% on the same period of 2006. Two-thirds of trades by volume were under the European Union’s (EU) emissions trading scheme (ETS), where the total value of trades was €11.5 billion in the first half...
