DuPont says it has filed suit against Heraeus Materials Technology (Hanau, Germany), alleging the solar cell paste maker infringed on its patents covering front-side silver metallization paste materials. DuPont produces metallization pastes under the trade name Solamet for both polysilicon and thin film solar cells. Metallization pastes are applied as a grid on solar panels to collect and transport electricity produced in the cell.
