EnviroTech :: Climate Change Dow JV Breaks Ground on Lithium-Ion Battery Plant (Update)11:32 AM MDT | June 21, 2010 | Vincent Valk Dow Chemical today broke ground on a lithium-ion battery plant in Midland, Michigan. The plant will be built and operated by Dow Kokam, a joint venture between Dow and TK Advanced Battery (Lee's Summit, MO), and will have a capacity of 1.2 billion watt hours of large lithium ion batteries when completed. It will supply the hybrid and electric vehicle market, as the capacity will be enough to power 60,000 such vehicles, Dow Kokam says.
