China Hints at Climate Change Policy Shift

The Chinese government could soften its position on climate change and accept the need to make greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions cuts, according to comments made this week at the United Nations (UN) climate summit in Bali, Indonesia, some experts say. “China has until now been squarely in the same camp as the G77 bloc of developing countries, but its accession to the above-average emitters’ club may introduce a much more nuanced picture,” says Alex Evans, senior policy associate at New York University’s Center on International Cooperation...
