Australia’s New Prime Minister to Sign Kyoto Protocol

Kevin Rudd, Australia’s newly elected prime minister and the country’s Labor Party leader, says that one of his first acts as head of the Australian government will be to sign the country up to the United Nations’ (UN) Kyoto Protocol on climate change. Rudd says he also plans to make Australia the “clean energy hub of Asia/Pacific” through measures including a new program for promoting solar energy in the country.
