EnviroTech :: Catalysts and Licensing Researchers Identify Zeolite Catalyst Imperfections, Route to Greater Efficiency5:55 AM MST | January 13, 2010 | Alex Scott A team of researchers, funded by the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO;Den Haag, the Netherlands) has identified that building blocks of crystals that form zeolite catalysts are irregular and so can lead to significant inefficiencies of the catalyst. Zeolite catalysts can have a structure like a miniature swiss cheese, featuring a series of molecular-size holes through which molecules can pass. The irregularity of the crystals means that the holes are misshapen and can often become blocked as molecules of the substance being processed pass...
