Materia Awarded Two Patents for Metathesis Catalysts

Materia (Pasadena, CA), a catalyst firm with an exclusive license for Grubbs catalyst technology, has been awarded two U.S. patents relating to the discovery of ruthenium organometallic complex catalysts.   The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has issued patent No: U.S. 8,008,224 for organometallic ruthenium complexes and related methods for the preparation of tetra-substituted and other hindered olefins; and patent No: U.S. 8,039,566 relating to olefin metathesis initiators bearing thiazol-2-ylidene ligands.   The patents cover a new series of...
