Chemicals from Corn: Global BioChem Targets Glycols Markets in the West

Global BioChem Technology (GBT, Hong Kong, China), China’s leading corn processor, says it plans to steadily increase sales of its Chinese-manufactured corn-derived glycols to North America and Europe. The company has 210,000 m.t./year of corn-derived glycols capacity at Changchun, Jilin Province, China. The firm’s commercial plant was only operating at about half capacity and selling most of its product in China in 2008 but increasingly the company is selling product to the west and the plant will be running at full capacity by year-end, says Jeffrey...
