EnviroTech :: Biotech Mascoma Granted Supply Contract by Pacific Ethanol11:51 AM MDT | March 29, 2012 | Rebecca Coons Pacific Ethanol Columbia has agreed to use Mascoma’s (Lebanon, NH) MGT yeast at four ethanol facilities with a combined annual production capacity of 200 million gallons. The MGT yeast is the first commercial application of Mascoma’s consolidated bioprocessing technology platform and lowers costs for corn ethanol producers by alleviating the need for expensive enzymes. Combined with an earlier commercial agreement to provide MGT for Valero Renewable Fuels, Mascoma says it now has contracts to supply yeast to 9% of the total corn ethanol market...
