EnviroTech :: Biotech EPA Finalizes 2012 Renewable Fuel Standard4:41 PM MST | December 27, 2011 | Rebecca Coons EPA says it has finalized the 2012 Renewable Fuel Standards (RFS), which again mandates far lower volumes of cellulosic biofuels than outlined by the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (EISA). The 2012 standards call for 8.65 million gallons of biofuels produced from non-food feedstocks be blended into U.S. transportation fuels in the coming year, compared to the 500 million the EISA originally envisaged would be available in 2012.
