EnviroTech :: Biotech Danisco Ordered to Pay Novozymes $18.3 Million for Biofuel Enzymes Patent Infringement4:12 AM MST | November 10, 2011 | Alex Scott The U.S. court for the Western District of Wisconsin has ordered Danisco, a DuPont company, to pay damages to Novozymes of $18.3 million. A jury found Danisco liable for infringing Novozymes’ patent for alpha-amylases, a set of engineered enzymes used in fermentation processes to manufacture products including biofuel. The jury at the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin also found Danisco’s infringement to be willful. The jury’s decision is not the final verdict.
